The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Criciúma Esporte Clube's Bieito Villaurreta. But to his dismay, Bieito Villaurreta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. When Criciúma Esporte Clube's Paulo Laurentzi in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Venezuela's goalie prevented a goal. Paulo Laurentzi succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 17th playminute. After 24 minutes, Alex Chicote mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venezuela and the Criciúma Esporte Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bieito Villaurreta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulo Laurentzi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Paulo Laurentzi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Bieito Villaurreta showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-0 in the 32 minute of play. Patricio Costa charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patricio Costa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 35th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot 36 in the game by Bieito Villaurreta from a close distance when the talented Jonathan Ferrant managed to make a qualified save. Venezuela's players were relieved. 42 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bieito Villaurreta. When Paulo Laurentzi came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Criciúma Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo Laurentzi couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Criciúma Esporte Clube booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Venegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. Paulo Laurentzi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. In the 64th minute Criciúma Esporte Clube were awarded a corner. Paulo Laurentzi went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Venezuela's goalie and right to Gaztea Regalado. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Venezuela's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Laurentzi in the 69th minute of play. Criciúma Esporte Clube's Bieito Villaurreta got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Criciúma Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Usub Raha hit a great ball. Evelio Antoniano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 76th minute of play. After 78 minutes of play, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Bieito Villaurreta made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Patricio Costa came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patricio Costa couldn't finish the play. In the 90th minute, Paulo Laurentzi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-0. Alex Chicote kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. In the 97th minute Paulo Laurentzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Criciúma Esporte Clube had won after a very even match.
