If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Khalid Gottschalk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 22nd minute of play. Luca Saenger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Khalid Gottschalk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute of play forced Hemmersbacher SV's goalkeeper Khalid Gottschalk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hemmersbacher SV's Khalid Gottschalk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 44th minute of play. The wind increased when Scott Herz made the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Hemmersbacher SV's Khalid Gottschalk got control of the ball when Agustín Saelices tried to sneak it across the goal line. Scott Herz ran back to his position shaking his head. Felix Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Khalid Gottschalk made a huge save. Scott Herz took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 78th minute, Luis Andino made a precise shot to the right of Khalid Gottschalk. Hemmersbacher SV's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Khalid Gottschalk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. In the 81st minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Khalid Gottschalk was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Khalid Gottschalk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 84th minute. An unexpected shot in the 85th minute by Daniel Zorita got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Khalid Gottschalk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
