Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amílcar Taborda, who was totally free with the ball in the 2nd minute. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 6th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Go Ahead Falcons. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 8th minute of play forced Go Ahead Falcons's goalkeeper Miljenko Gošljević to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Miljenko Gošljević showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. After having played for 16 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 19 minutes into the match, Go Ahead Falcons's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Miljenko Gošljević reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Miljenko Gošljević was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 24 minutes into the match, Go Ahead Falcons's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Miljenko Gošljević reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Luis Andino notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Go Ahead Falcons's Miljenko Gošljević. Miljenko Gošljević was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Go Ahead Falcons getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Amílcar Taborda hit a great ball. In the 42nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miljenko Gošljević saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Go Ahead Falcons's 郑斐响 slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-2 after 46 minutes of play. After the first half Ecuador were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 60th match minute, Go Ahead Falcons was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edward Klawki to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Go Ahead Falcons's Miljenko Gošljević got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 65th minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amílcar Taborda in the 68th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 郑斐响 in the 69th minute of play. Go Ahead Falcons's Miljenko Gošljević played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 72nd minute of play. In the 74th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miljenko Gošljević saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Go Ahead Falcons's defense didn't have a chance, in the 77th minute, when Cristian Sancho scored to the left of an out of position Miljenko Gošljević, making the score, 1-4. Go Ahead Falcons's Andrija Đupić was substituted for 郑斐响. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Miljenko Gošljević tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 89th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Miljenko Gošljević was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Go Ahead Falcons was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amílcar Taborda didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Go Ahead Falcons getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Hüsmen Beşir hit a great ball. The Go Ahead Falcons fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
