The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Fillos de Breogán's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Garibaldo Quijana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 7th match minute, Fillos de Breogán was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yağızalp Ulaş to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 8th minute of play forced Fillos de Breogán's goalkeeper Garibaldo Quijana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Orti Sánchez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the match, Fillos de Breogán's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Garibaldo Quijana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Calisto Abril struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fillos de Breogán. 22 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Garibaldo Quijana narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 25th minute Fillos de Breogán were awarded a corner. Oto Gómez went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to Fillos de Breogán's Gabriel Bogatu getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. After having played for 31 minutes, Calisto Abril managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fillos de Breogán's supporters crossed their fingers, but Calisto Abril was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Orti Sánchez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gabriel Bogatu's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gabriel Bogatu helped the player get up and apologised. Gabriel Bogatu kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Garibaldo Quijana was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Orti Sánchez was the one to do the kick off. Felix Montes was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Fillos de Breogán's Xesus Galaiko was substituted for Calisto Abril. In the 58th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. Fillos de Breogán made a substitution. Veremundo Caballero replaced Oto Gómez. If Domeka Paredes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 68 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Xesus Galaiko came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fillos de Breogán's goalkeeper Garibaldo Quijana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Fillos de Breogán's Garibaldo Quijana proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Fillos de Breogán from getting a goal against them. In the 72nd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Fillos de Breogán's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Fillos de Breogán's Garibaldo Quijana managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 73rd minute, Xesus Galaiko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Garibaldo Quijana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 77th minute of play. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 79th minute. It was a well-played corner which Felix Montenegro managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 81st minute Orti Sánchez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 84th minute of play forced Fillos de Breogán's goalkeeper Garibaldo Quijana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Orti Sánchez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fillos de Breogán's supporters rose to their feet, but Orti Sánchez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 93rd minute. In the 94th minute Veremundo Caballero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A nice corner shot did that Waldemar Olszewski got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
