In the 9th minute Guillermo Fontirroig suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 10 minutes into the game, Lasse Kroner was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Bruges's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chile the free kick. Lasse Kroner hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Gerardo Pozo kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. If Mac Mon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 15th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luc Van Hinnendael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luc Van Hinnendael showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 17th minute of the match. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Bruges's goalkeeper Luc Van Hinnendael, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 22 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Mac Mon came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Bruges's goalkeeper Luc Van Hinnendael, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Chile's Alan Tamayo got a free kick in the 47th minute. A collision led to Chile getting a freekick after 49 minutes play. Pedro Indiano hit a great ball. In the 50th match minute, Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan Tamayo to maneuver through the defense. 51 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Lasse Kroner came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xavies Muñagorri in the 55th minute of play. FC Bruges were awarded a corner in the 56th minute after Chile's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lasse Kroner took the corner. With his leg Luc Van Hinnendael managed to avoid a goal in the 58thth minute, when Chile's Orlando Casaus fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Mariano Lacasa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Luc Van Hinnendael didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mariano Lacasa went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Mariano Lacasa might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luc Van Hinnendael. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mariano Lacasa ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Bruges's goalkeeper Luc Van Hinnendael, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, FC Bruges's Luc Van Hinnendael got control of the ball when Mariano Lacasa tried to sneak it across the goal line. FC Bruges's Luc Van Hinnendael proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 101st minute of the match, managed to save FC Bruges from getting a goal against them. Chile's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
