Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Oscar Cruz kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. King Batistuta who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 41stth minute tested the skills of Benito Sanz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Abel Carballo hit a great ball. The audience cheered when Sven Horring's long shot passed Benito Sanz's right side. It was 3-0, 44 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Oscar Cruz during the 48th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 48th minute, Oscar Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Oscar Cruz was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Burak Öz came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 4-0 became the score in the 55th minute when Oscar Cruz elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 59th minute, King Batistuta left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Jacksonville 67 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. In the 65th minute of the match Jacksonville 67 got a corner. Costa Rica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sven Horring ran over to the corner to take the kick. 67 minutes into the match, King Batistuta had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that King Batistuta was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. 70 minutes into the game, Jacksonville 67's Pieter Harmens nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. When Oscar Cruz came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Jacksonville 67 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oscar Cruz couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by King Batistuta in the 77th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oscar Cruz in the 78th minute of the match. King Batistuta scored 8-0 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Oscar Cruz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Oscar Cruz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oscar Cruz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 9-0. Jacksonville 67's Pieter Harmens got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 93rd minute, King Batistuta ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 10-0. Jacksonville 67 walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
