Benito Sanz acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 3rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Irakli Robakidze. After 4 minutes, Aaron Alcocer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the A V A Z A players grew even worse after the yellow card. Axel Tasis's late challenge caught a A V A Z A's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Axel Tasis helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Axel Tasis got a free kick in the 6th minute. In the 7th minute, Jondo Pawletko got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. The supporters of A V A Z A booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo Ferrant didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 15th minute, Juan Rubio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Irakli Robakidze stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Irakli Robakidze tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jondo Pawletko might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jondo Pawletko ran back to his position shaking his head. Filipp Topnikov came free with the goalkeeper in the 28th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Benito Sanz could save by the left post. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Filipp Topnikov tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, A V A Z A's Irakli Robakidze got a free kick in the 31st minute. After 32 minutes, Irakli Robakidze mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the A V A Z A and the Costa Rica players grew even worse after the yellow card. 33 minutes into the game, Axel Tasis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Şaban Okdağ was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Costa Rica's Axel Tasis got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Filipp Topnikov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aaron Alcocer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Şaban Okdağ tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The A V A Z A players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Costa Rica were winning 0-1.

After 53 minutes of play, A V A Z A's Zviadi Anghelache made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Costa Rica booed when A V A Z A was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Irakli Robakidze didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in A V A Z A's zone, Eliseo Noboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Şaban Okdağ came out of the goal and Eliseo Noboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 60th minute Filipp Topnikov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Filipp Topnikov struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for A V A Z A. After 63 minutes, Zviadi Anghelache mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the A V A Z A and the Costa Rica players grew even worse after the yellow card. During the 65th minute of the match Zviadi Anghelache completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Zviadi Anghelache a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 65th match minute, A V A Z A was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zviadi Anghelache to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Witalis Czerniak managed to get in a good position for a shot. A V A Z A's supporters rose to their feet, but Witalis Czerniak was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of A V A Z A booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Alcocer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eliseo Noboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şaban Okdağ having to interfere. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bebur Babadishev in the 77th minute of play. If Axel Tasis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ali Hamza Okuyan's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Axel Tasis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 85th minute, Lautaro Puig left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Costa Rica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Şaban Okdağ made an important save on a dangerous shot by Axel Tasis in the 90th minute. Jondo Pawletko took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
