It was a well-played corner which Luis Andino managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The audience thought a goal was coming when Agustín Saelices got free with Marciano Beturian in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Cristian Sancho slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marciano Beturian. That made the score 4-2 after 84 minutes of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joe Gibson in the 89th minute of play. Marciano Beturian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
