In the 7th minute, Mariano Lacasa made a precise shot to the right of Sebastian Titz. Sydney FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Thiago Pliego made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Emanuel Ogășanu sent off a good shot on target. Emanuel Ogășanus short, quick shot in the 13thth minute got Thiago Pliego to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 15 minutes, Mariano Lacasa made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Sydney FC's Sebastian Titz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Sydney FC's Günter Vogelweide was substituted for Önder Cebi. The audience was convinced that Emanuel Ogășanu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thiago Pliego was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. In the 25th minute Günter Vogelweide shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 29thth minute of the game Emanuel Ogășanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chile's Thiago Pliego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Sydney FC's Emanuel Ogășanu in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chile's goalie prevented a goal. Günter Vogelweide could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Thiago Pliego made a huge save. The supporters of Chile booed when Sydney FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guy Rothe didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 38 played minutes Sydney FC got a freekick which was hit by Guy Rothe. Thiago Pliego was out of position in the 43 minute of play, and Emanuel Ogășanu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Emanuel Ogășanu really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Thiago Pliego had great luck who in the 46thth minute grab hold of the ball when Emanuel Ogășanu from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emanuel Ogășanu to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Casaus in the 52nd minute of play forced Sydney FC's goalkeeper Sebastian Titz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Sydney FC's Ludwig Hanstein got a free kick in the 53rd minute. In the 56th minute Günter Vogelweide shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Günter Vogelweide, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. 59 minutes into the match, Sydney FC's goalkeeper Sebastian Titz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mariano Lacasa. 65 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Ogășanu came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sydney FC's attentive Angelo Milanese managed to snatch the ball when Guillermo Fontirroig made a throw-in in the 67th minute of the game. Guy Rothe struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Thiago Pliego didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sydney FC. In the 73rd match minute, Sydney FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ludwig Hanstein to maneuver through the defense. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Günter Vogelweide in the 84th minute of play. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Günter Vogelweide in the 87th minute of play. After 92 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Alan Tamayo. Sydney FC's Ferdinand Mendy got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 94 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Ogășanu came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Chile had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
