When Daniel Zorita, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 8 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Alfons Glad was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Alfons Glad made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 10th minute of play. Lars-Erik Lidström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars-Erik Lidström in the 17th minute of play. Robert Dubiel took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leif Löfdahl came free with the goalkeeper in the 30th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfons Glad saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Alfons Glad tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Montenegro hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Dubiel in the 46th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leif Löfdahl made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Viktor Biörnberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leif Löfdahl in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Leif Löfdahl hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leif Löfdahl in the 78th minute of the match. In the 80th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alfons Glad was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfons Glad having to interfere. After 88 minutes, Hannes Haraldsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Segmon IF and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 88th match minute, Segmon IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hannes Haraldsson to maneuver through the defense. Cristian Sancho's late challenge caught a Segmon IF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cristian Sancho helped the player get up and apologised. In the 90th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Segmon IF booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Segmon IF throughout the match.
