After having played for 30 minutes, Tomas Berganza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Berganza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcos Cotilla made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alvin Rosin in the 32nd minute. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Riala Goif's goalkeeper Tom Bur, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 34 minutes into the match, Tomas Berganza had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tom Bur. Riala Goif's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Berganza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. André Lameirinhas charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed André Lameirinhas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 39th match minute, Riala Goif was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Lameirinhas to maneuver through the defense. If Isidoro Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Riala Goif's zone, Tomas Berganza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tom Bur came out of the goal and Tomas Berganza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Tomas Berganza's late challenge caught a Riala Goif's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomas Berganza helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Riala Goif booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomas Berganza didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 55th minute, Jesper Biörkman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Riala Goif fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. With a little luck, Riala Goif's Tom Bur got control of the ball when Abraham Alguacil tried to sneak it across the goal line.
