After a rather tough play, Esquadrão Lusitano's Cristiano Cigaran got a free kick in the 5th minute. Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 8th minute, when Cristiano Cigaran scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 1-0. Brett Fazey hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Esquadrão Lusitano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tạ Bom didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vítor Damas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Derman Anoia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui Sá in the 27th minute of the match. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristiano Cigaran in the 34th minute. 42 minutes into the match, Esquadrão Lusitano's Cristiano Cigaran sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rui Sá in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Derman Anoia's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
