Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 2nd minute, when Marcellus Walpert scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 1-0. Tristan Arioli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 6th minute of the match. 8 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Olympique Fribourg's Tristan Arioli. Tristan Arioli was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Tristan Arioli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Olympique Fribourg's Tristan Arioli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 23rd minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tristan Arioli having to interfere. Antonio Arias's late challenge caught a Olympique Fribourg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Antonio Arias helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Antonio Arias got a free kick in the 37th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Steiner in the 41st minute of the match. The supporters of Olympique Fribourg booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bruno Steiner blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Florian Plouffe stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raik Topuz, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. In the 53rd minute Olympique Fribourg were awarded a corner. Daniel Schroeder went to the cornerflag to take it. But to his dismay, Raik Topuz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Olympique Fribourg's goalkeeper Tristan Arioli, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Olympique Fribourg were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
