If Benedito Rebelo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 17th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efraim Gilabert to maneuver through the defense. Julian Murillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Claudemiro Tristão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Benedito Rebelo came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the GD Almargense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benedito Rebelo couldn't finish the play. 25 minutes into the game, Idalécio Veloso threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Joaquin Prats quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The audience thought a goal was coming when Celso Eiró got free with Rolando Noboa in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Claudemiro Tristão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 32 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Benedito Rebelo came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 35 minutes of play, Peru's Milagros Fraga made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Claudemiro Tristão was left in no man's land by his defense there! GD Almargense's Claudemiro Tristão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Mina in the 38th minute of play. The corner ended in Luz Tejedor almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but GD Almargense's Claudemiro Tristão did a great save. The supporters of GD Almargense booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anthony Alvarado didn't get a good kick on the ball. 47 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Celso Eiró. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

With an all-out effort, Peru's Claudemiro Tristão threw himself towards the right post 52 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Eliseo Mina, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
