Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Baldomiro Clementi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Bierunese's Benito Sanz threw himself towards the right post 7 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kevin Arnolds, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Bierunese's Kevin Arnolds in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Costa Rica's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kevin Arnolds in the 11th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13th minute Bierunese were awarded a corner. Donato Alvarez went to the cornerflag to take it. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Kevin Arnolds sent off a good shot on target. Axel Tasis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Werner Kamps having to interfere. Benito Sanz was out of position in the 21 minute of play, and Christiaan Schipper capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Christiaan Schipper really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Kevin Arnolds sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Donato Alvarez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Donato Alvarez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benito Sanz didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Bierunese's Kevin Arnolds shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 3-0 in the ordered_time% minute. In the 35th minute Bierunese were awarded a corner. Donato Alvarez went to the cornerflag to take it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kevin Arnolds in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. In the 41st minute, Abel Carballo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Baldomiro Clementi sent off a good shot on target.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Tasis was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kevin Arnolds in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Arnolds, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Kevin Arnolds kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Abel Carballo kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Erben Spiljard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Christiaan Schipper managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bierunese's supporters rose to their feet, but Christiaan Schipper was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Arnolds, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Kevin Arnolds's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game.
