Haşim Batüralp showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 7th minute of the match. In the 9th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haşim Batüralp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peru were awarded a corner in the 10th minute after Kings's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. Luz Tejedor made a great header on Peru's corner, it was just that Kings's Haşim Batüralp managed to reach the ball for a save. Edgaras Jankauskas hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Kings's Edgaras Jankauskas got a free kick in the 20th minute. Kings's Haşim Batüralp played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 21st minute of play. Kings were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Peru's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Victorino Marko took the corner. Kristupas Šimkūnas made a great header on Kings's corner, it was just that Peru's Rolando Noboa managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 26th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haşim Batüralp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute, Victorino Marko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A sloppy throw-in by Edgaras Jankauskas in the 32nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Eliseo Mina. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Haşim Batüralp read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. In the 35th minute Nojus Bikas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Julian Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julian Murillo couldn't finish the play. Milagros Fraga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Haşim Batüralp having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The crowd rose to their feet as Julian Murillo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Haşim Batüralp. That made the score 0-1 in the 59 minute of play. Kings made a substitution. Bob Grammet replaced Edgaras Jankauskas. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Haşim Batüralp in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Kings's Haşim Batüralp got control of the ball when Julian Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alonso Berganza made in the 71st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Kings's Nojus Bikas. Eliseo Mina's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Haşim Batüralp read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. 88 minutes in the game Bob Grammet did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Luís Figo. Haşim Batüralp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafael Gallo in the 89th minute of play. If Victorino Marko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
