An unexpected shot in the 8th minute by Eero Grönholm got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 13th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Sørensen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to FC Grivata getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Slavey Kozovski hit a great ball. 22 minutes into the match, FC Grivata's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Costa came free, but Thomas Sørensen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Patricio Costa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 33 minutes into the game, Eero Grönholm cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 37 minutes into the match, Lyuben Dimiev had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lyuben Dimiev was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jonathan Venegas in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thomas Sørensen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in FC Grivata's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomas Sørensen came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lyuben Dimiev to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to FC Grivata getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Eero Grönholm hit a great ball. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Grivata's goalkeeper Thomas Sørensen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. FC Grivata's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eero Grönholm was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 90th minute, Eero Grönholm made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. FC Grivata's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
