If Diego Armando Maradona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 21 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Armando Maradona came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th minute of the game Luis Andino made a throw-in which Juan Sebastián Puig played forward. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Armando Maradona in the 35th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Armando Maradona in the 39th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zheng Feng Yi hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Peter-Stefan Schmeichel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Peter-Stefan Schmeichel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 64th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Daniel Zorita slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Peter-Stefan Schmeichel. That made the score 0-1 after 67 minutes of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfred Nikodemski in the 70th minute of the match. club⚽ID⚽400547 made a substitution.
