Eric Gary made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 12th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Jagiellonia Denver's Hélio Donatello sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jagiellonia Denver's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ricardo Gareca in the 17th minute. Jagiellonia Denver's Ricardo Gareca was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Jagiellonia Denver's goalkeeper Eric Gary, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Eric Gary didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Eric Gary made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of play. In the 26th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Gary saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by Jagiellonia Denver's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Michal Majdoch sent off a good shot on target. In the 36th minute Michal Majdoch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 38th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 45th match minute, Jagiellonia Denver was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michal Majdoch to maneuver through the defense. Nicolae Costa hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 52nd minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 56th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. When Cristian Sancho fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Cristian Sancho a yellow card for diving instead. After 56 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hélio Donatello, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. In the 64th minute, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Eric Gary. Eric Gary yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. In the 67th minute, Felix Montenegro fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Jagiellonia Denver made a substitution. Özalp Durkaya replaced Florence Diaz. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Jagiellonia Denver's goalkeeper Eric Gary, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Nicolae Costa was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 75 minutes had been played. After 75 played minutes Jagiellonia Denver got a freekick which was hit by Nicolae Costa. Jagiellonia Denver's Venceslas Borizar was substituted for Viorel Olaru. After a rather tough play, Jagiellonia Denver's Nicolae Costa got a free kick in the 76th minute. In the 77th minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Eric Gary. Eric Gary yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jagiellonia Denver made a substitution. 林邦瑜 replaced Ricardo Gareca. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 83rdth minute got Eric Gary to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 93rd minute, Jagiellonia Denver's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Eric Gary tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
