The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Olimpiu Hârlău having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Yu Feng Xi got free with Julio Vera in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Carpathian Wolves's Avram Panaiteanu in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Olimpiu Hârlău showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 14th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Avram Panaiteanu in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 26 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mugur Timofte was slow to take the kick. During this time Carpathian Wolves's players had a chance to rest. In the 29th minute, Ecuador's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Yu Feng Xi fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Through an outstanding action, after 30 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olimpiu Hârlău having to interfere. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Avram Panaiteanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 40 minutes into the game, Camilo Gisbert was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Carpathian Wolves the free kick. Camilo Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. After having played for 41 minutes, Mugur Timofte managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carpathian Wolves's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mugur Timofte was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Avram Panaiteanu struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carpathian Wolves. Olimpiu Hârlău showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 45th minute of the match. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Avram Panaiteanu to make the kick off. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Timo Thorstein in the 60th minute of play. In the 63rd match minute, Carpathian Wolves was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mugur Timofte to maneuver through the defense. After 67 played minutes Carpathian Wolves got a freekick which was hit by Yu Feng Xi. After a rather tough play, Carpathian Wolves's Valentin Ciulei got a free kick in the 71st minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Avram Panaiteanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. The audience was convinced that Yu Feng Xi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. 87 minutes into the match, Avram Panaiteanu notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Timo Thorstein sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carpathian Wolves succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
