After having played for 20 minutes, Mugurel Gologan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jacobo Nores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emilian Blăniță in the 24th minute of the match. Jacobo Nores took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Negrescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hector Covarrubias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 30 minutes into the match, Emilian Blăniță had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Emilian Blăniță was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Paraguay's Raul Venegas quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Felix Negrescu, made in the 41st minute of the game. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Tineretul Arad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Negrescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Tineretul Arad's goalkeeper Daniel Anton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jaime Pardo. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 51st minute of play forced Tineretul Arad's goalkeeper Daniel Anton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jaime Pardo took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Daniel Anton. Daniel Anton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Gerson Guimarães's late challenge caught a Paraguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gerson Guimarães helped the player get up and apologised. In the 60th match minute, Tineretul Arad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerson Guimarães to maneuver through the defense. When Tineretul Arad's Cazimir Maior in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Paraguay's goalie prevented a goal. Jaime Pardo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Jaime Pardo came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Paraguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jaime Pardo couldn't finish the play. In the 82nd match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Escribano to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Tineretul Arad's Adam Rizea got a free kick in the 89th minute. In the 91st minute, Jaime Pardo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 93rd match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hector Covarrubias to maneuver through the defense. In the 94th minute, Valentin Cruceru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Paraguay players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
