Gilmar Quadros came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Julian Murillo. But to his dismay, Julian Murillo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Rolando Noboa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zayvion Ispuzua's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. If Eliseo Mina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Barcelona de América's Caetano Levandowsky was substituted for Zayvion Ispuzua. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Caetano Levandowsky's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rolando Noboa was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antonio Tenorio got free with Gilmar Quadros in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gilmar Quadros made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rafael Gallo in the 96th minute. Antonio Tenorio didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 0-2 via right post in the game's 98th minute. Peru's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! Peru's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
