Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Coyences having to interfere. After 8 played minutes Los Payasitos got a freekick which was hit by Valério Matorin. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho came free with the goalkeeper in the 13th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Eduardo Coyences could save by the left post. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Eduardo Coyences in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The crowd rose to their feet as Daniel Zorita kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Eduardo Coyences. That made the score 1-0 in the 16 minute of play. Los Payasitos's Eduardo Coyences proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Los Payasitos from getting a goal against them. 顾笑源 recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Ceresso in the 28th minute of play. With a little luck, Los Payasitos's Eduardo Coyences got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers 顾笑源 in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. 顾笑源 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 36 minutes into the game, Ismael Barreto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Camilo Gisbert fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Camilo Gisbert a yellow card for diving instead. Camilo Gisbert hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. When Los Payasitos's Ismael Barreto in the 46th minute got a chance for a shot 46th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Joaquín Vásquez hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. The supporters of Los Payasitos booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Sancho didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Los Payasitos getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Seyhun Temirhan hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Ceresso in the 85th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ismael Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Los Payasitos succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
