The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Camilo Gisbert charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Camilo Gisbert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When the match had been going on for 4 minutes, Independente F.C. Limeira's Matheus França got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Julio Vera. Amador Quinten hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Luís do Valle got free with Julio Vera in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 11 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Matheus França who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Independente F.C. Limeira's Matheus França to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dionisio Rik, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Independente F.C. Limeira's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Matheus França in the 14th minute. The corner ended in Matheus França almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Independente F.C. Limeira's Robbie Southgate managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 26th minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Robbie Southgate. Independente F.C. Limeira's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Robbie Southgate made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 30th minute of play. Robbie Southgate showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 31st minute of the match. In the 32nd match minute, Independente F.C. Limeira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amador Quinten to maneuver through the defense. 33 minutes into the match, Luis Andino notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Independente F.C. Limeira's Robbie Southgate. Robbie Southgate was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Robbie Southgate didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Robbie Southgate took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Independente F.C. Limeira defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Robbie Southgate. The Independente F.C. Limeira fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Robbie Southgate should have stopped the shot. 高坤源 recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Independente F.C. Limeira's Robbie Southgate proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Independente F.C. Limeira from getting a goal against them. In the 55th minute, Luis Andino left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-4. Felix Montenegro's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Robbie Southgate firmly grabbed it by the left post. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pedro Luís do Valle went, in the 63rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-4 was the resulting score. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Robbie Southgate tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If 高坤源 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 81 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Matheus França was slow to take the kick. During this time Independente F.C. Limeira's players had a chance to rest. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ecuador fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 88th minute. Penalty! Dionisio Rik's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dionisio Rik helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Independente F.C. Limeira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dionisio Rik didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 98th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
