Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Codruț Domuță was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When the match clock showed 19 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Codruț Domuță sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. After 24 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Enginalp Hilal who took care of the corner kick. 29 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Turan Uluçam made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 37th minute after COLDPLAY's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Codruț Domuță in the 46th minute of play. Hieronim Cisek charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hieronim Cisek the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, COLDPLAY's Hieronim Cisek got a free kick in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Codruț Domuță to make the kick off. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Codruț Domuță tried to sneak it across the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, COLDPLAY's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Turan Uluçam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ahmet Demir's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 60thth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Lütfi Özil's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Julio Vera firmly grabbed it by the left post. 64 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ahmet Demir. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Turan Uluçam having to interfere. COLDPLAY's Hakkı Devrim Tuğrul was substituted for Lütfi Özil. 71 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of COLDPLAY's Turan Uluçam. Turan Uluçam was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 75th minute, Codruț Domuță left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The COLDPLAY fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Hakkı Devrim Tuğrul's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. 83 minutes into the match, COLDPLAY's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Turan Uluçam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Turan Uluçam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 85th minute of play. In the 87th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Turan Uluçam saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A well done corner resulted in Agustín Saelices drilling the ball in to score 3-3 behind COLDPLAY's goalkeeper. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
