After a defensive mix-up in CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's zone, Patricio Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juvenal Sergipano came out of the goal and Patricio Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 13 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Célio Fontes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Célio Fontes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 16 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's Juvenal Sergipano. Juvenal Sergipano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 21 minutes into the match, Célio Fontes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Célio Fontes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Lobo Zornoza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a free kick in the 44th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. The supporters of CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amado Froila in the 58th minute of play. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. After having played for 60 minutes, Lobo Zornoza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lobo Zornoza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's Célio Fontes. But to his dismay, Célio Fontes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Lobo Zornoza might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lobo Zornoza ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Célio Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot. CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's supporters rose to their feet, but Célio Fontes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amado Froila in the 74th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kiko Tande in the 86th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 87 minutes of play, CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's Kiko Tande made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jonathan Venegas charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jonathan Venegas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match.
