Fabricio Gau took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Berganza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 10 minutes into the game, Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fabricio Gau made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Fabricio Gau stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Berganza's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. Joaquin Onofre scored 2-1 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcos Cotilla, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Marcos Cotilla made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Ubaldo Pueblo sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Panama's Marcos Cotilla got control of the ball when Benjamin Platon tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 27th minute Ubaldo Pueblo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Isidoro Sarmiento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabricio Gau having to interfere. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ubaldo Pueblo in the 34th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Berganza in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fabricio Gau prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Abraham Alguacil hit a great ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joaquin Onofre to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Benjamin Platon came free, but Marcos Cotilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Tomas Berganza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fabricio Gau was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. If Abraham Alguacil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frode Ophaug, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joaquin Onofre in the 73rd minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 84 minutes into the game, Abraham Alguacil recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fabricio Gau. Abraham Alguacil showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. Fabricio Gau made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Abraham Alguacil sent off a good shot on target. Abraham Alguacil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabricio Gau having to interfere. Fabricio Gau made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 96th minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
