Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Mathijs Tevreden didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Marian Tufescu hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. It was a well-played corner which Luis Andino managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The audience thought a goal was coming when Roman Pitin got free with Julio Vera in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. S.C. Potentia's attentive Roger Ijspol managed to snatch the ball when Luis Andino made a throw-in in the 33rd minute of the game. 36 minutes into the game, Adam Messi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. S.C. Potentia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. In the 36th match minute, S.C. Potentia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adam Messi to maneuver through the defense. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mathijs Tevreden having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roman Pitin in the 39th minute of play. Mathijs Tevreden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mathijs Tevreden. Mathijs Tevreden dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 45 minutes into the match, S.C. Potentia's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Mathijs Tevreden reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Roger Ijspol kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. After 53 played minutes S.C. Potentia got a freekick which was hit by Marian Tufescu. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adam Messi was shown his second yellow card after 62 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 62 played minutes S.C. Potentia got a freekick which was hit by Adam Messi. In the 68th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mathijs Tevreden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Cristian Sancho kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mathijs Tevreden. That made the score 1-2 in the 70 minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mathijs Tevreden having to interfere. After 80 played minutes S.C. Potentia got a freekick which was hit by Roger Ijspol. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marian Tufescu during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Ecuador booed when S.C. Potentia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marian Tufescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roman Pitin, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Ecuador played a much better game than S.C. Potentia and deserved their victory. The S.C. Potentia players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
