Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Traian Moldovan got the match started through his kick off. Olimpiu Mustea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. After having played for 6 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ionel Panaitoiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ionel Panaitoiu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Agustín Saelices went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ionel Panaitoiu came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ionel Panaitoiu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Traian Moldovan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Galtero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionel Panaitoiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.
The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. After 50 minutes, Cristinel Eftimiu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Phoenix Strikers and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Phoenix Strikers getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Cristinel Eftimiu hit a great ball. In the 51st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionel Panaitoiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Daniel Zorita kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ionel Panaitoiu. That made the score 0-4 in the 53 minute of play. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olimpiu Mustea in the 57th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Phoenix Strikers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olimpiu Mustea didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 66 minutes of play Phoenix Strikers's Cristinel Eftimiu was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 67th match minute, Phoenix Strikers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristinel Eftimiu to maneuver through the defense. Phoenix Strikers made a substitution. Horaţiu Dinulescu replaced Mauricio Quentin. Phoenix Strikers's Pavel Haaland was substituted for Ivan Galtero. Cristinel Eftimiu hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Ionel Panaitoiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 74th minute of play. Eric Aanuţei kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Traian Moldovan, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Daniel Zorita kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. Ecuador's Antonio Arias got his second yellow card of the match in the 93rd minute. The referee ordered Antonio Arias off the ground. Antonio Arias kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Traian Moldovan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Traian Moldovan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
