Joxa mé trasan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arne Bronco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 16th minute Laureano Beliran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Joxa mé trasan's Edward Engström got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Egil Bern didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laureano Beliran in the 51st minute of play. Laureano Beliran came free with the goalkeeper in the 53rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. Joxa mé trasan's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gabriel Lange in the 54th minute. Laureano Beliran made a great header on Joxa mé trasan's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Laureano Beliran got free with Julio Vera in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Laureano Beliran in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. After 76 minutes Joxa mé trasan's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Joxa mé trasan were awarded a corner in the 83th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gabriel Lange took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Arne Bronco got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
