The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Poncio Zalaeta in the 4th minute of the match. If Poncio Zalaeta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Birra Bizarra's Lohitzun Reigosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 19th minute of play. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 20th minute. Lohitzun Reigosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 35 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Poncio Zalaeta came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

In the 61st minute, one of Birra Bizarra:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Birra Bizarra. Daniel Zorita scored 0-1 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lohitzun Reigosa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Poncio Zalaeta in the 68th minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Poncio Zalaeta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Poncio Zalaeta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Poncio Zalaeta, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Poncio Zalaeta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Poncio Zalaeta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emanuel Mariategui charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emanuel Mariategui the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Birra Bizarra throughout the match.
