The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 8th minute of the game. One of Henley Utd:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ecuador:s goal. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joakim Bergsten in the 14th minute of play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joakim Bergsten in the 16th minute of play. Henley Utd's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hannes Kjellqvist in the 17th minute. After 17 minutes, Richard Tunström made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Joakim Bergsten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Felix Montes hit a great ball. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Edvin Jonsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Richarlison de Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot. Henley Utd's supporters rose to their feet, but Richarlison de Andrade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 65th minute Joakim Bergsten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Cristian Sancho slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Edvin Jonsson. That made the score 2-2 after 66 minutes of play. In the 72nd minute, Richarlison de Andrade ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. After a rather tough play, Henley Utd's Jens-Erik Nykvist got a free kick in the 74th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Henley Utd's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edvin Jonsson came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Edvin Jonsson made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joakim Bergsten in the 83rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Joakim Bergsten fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Henley Utd's protests and gave Joakim Bergsten a yellow card for diving instead. Joakim Bergsten kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Hannes Kjellqvist kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Henley Utd's zone, Luis Andino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edvin Jonsson came out of the goal and Luis Andino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 94 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edvin Jonsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-3. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
