White Star Troopers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilfredo León was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Ecuador booed when White Star Troopers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sancho Andres didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilfredo León, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Through an outstanding action, after 82 minutes, Zbigniew Laba successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.
