Armando Meireles started the match with the kick off. Abel Carvalhais hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. 9 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Petruț Dicu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Petruț Dicu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 18th minute of play forced Exército Português's goalkeeper Petruț Dicu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Armando Meireles who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Julio Vera stood somewhat misplaced when Armando Meireles came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 21 minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felix Montenegro in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Petruț Dicu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Petruț Dicu was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Soveral, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After taking down the ball on Exército Português's corner Gustavo Carrasqueira fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. Exército Português's Bruno Soveral got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Felix Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Petruț Dicu made a huge save. With a little luck, Exército Português's Petruț Dicu got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Daniel Zorita slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Petruț Dicu. That made the score 1-2 after 58 minutes of play. In the 61st match minute, Exército Português was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ademar Borges to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th minute Toro Lindø shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. Exército Português's Feliks Maurycy was substituted for Armando Meireles. After 76 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. When Exército Português's Bruno Soveral in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. After 84 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gustavo Carrasqueira who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Abel Carvalhais heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Cristian Sancho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 90thth minute tested the skills of Petruț Dicu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ecuador played a much better game than Exército Português and deserved their victory. The Exército Português players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
