The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Real Madrid de Guatemala. Mario Fernandino shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. When Alfredo Ferrant came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Bolivia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Ferrant couldn't finish the play. After 15 minutes, Alfonso de la Cruz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bolivia and the Real Madrid de Guatemala players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 15th minute, Alfonso de la Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bolivia's Alfredo Ferrant got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alfonso de la Cruz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Nicolás Guerrero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Real Madrid de Guatemala's Nicolás Guerrero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Real Madrid de Guatemala from getting a goal against them. Camilo Freixa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Angel Botello, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Nicolás Guerrero made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eduardo Fontirroig in the 30th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfonso de la Cruz got free with Nicolás Guerrero in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 38 minutes into the match, Real Madrid de Guatemala's goal looked a bit too open when Eduardo Fontirroig came free, but Nicolás Guerrero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Alexander Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 43 minutes into the game, Francisco Gallo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bolivia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Real Madrid de Guatemala the free kick. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Bolivia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mario Fernandino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 53 minutes into the match, Alfonso de la Cruz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nicolás Guerrero. Real Madrid de Guatemala's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfonso de la Cruz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Fontirroig in the 56th minute of play forced Real Madrid de Guatemala's goalkeeper Nicolás Guerrero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eduardo Fontirroig scored 3-1 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nicolás Guerrero, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nicolás Guerrero came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Bolivia's Julio Chicote. But to his dismay, Julio Chicote quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. When Alexander Torres came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Real Madrid de Guatemala fans jumped to their feet.
