The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nicolás Guerrero made an important save on a dangerous shot by Moises Fernandino in the 8th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Moises Fernandino got free with Nicolás Guerrero in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Abram Luque came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the El Salvador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abram Luque couldn't finish the play. Real Madrid de Guatemala's defense didn't have a chance, in the 12th minute, when Moises Fernandino scored to the left of an out of position Nicolás Guerrero, making the score, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Moises Fernandino got free with Nicolás Guerrero in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sílvio Luiz Goiano, 18 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Joshua Curbelo hit a great ball. After 21 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Mateo Leguizamo. Nicolás Guerrero stood somewhat misplaced when Moises Fernandino came free in front of goal and shot 3-0 to the left of him in the 25 minute. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexander Torres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 40 minutes into the game, Jorge Magrina threw the ball into play from the sideline. Real Madrid de Guatemala's Cristian Santamaria quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Moises Fernandino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Nicolás Guerrero made a huge save. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alexander Torres stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Moises Fernandino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Nicolás Guerrero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alexander Torres in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ricardo Zorita saved El Salvador from getting behind. Alexander Torres struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Ricardo Zorita didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Real Madrid de Guatemala. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abram Luque in the 61st minute of play forced Real Madrid de Guatemala's goalkeeper Nicolás Guerrero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Mateo Leguizamo got a free kick in the 65th minute. 77 minutes into the match, Real Madrid de Guatemala's goal looked a bit too open when Abram Luque came free, but Nicolás Guerrero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joshua Curbelo hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. In the 93rd minute, Abram Luque hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Real Madrid de Guatemala's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
