With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Real Madrid de Guatemala's Cristian Santamaria. But to his dismay, Cristian Santamaria quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carmelo Sifon in the 10th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Carmelo Sifon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquin Gayoso was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. When Real Madrid de Guatemala's Carmelo Sifon in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Uruguay's goalie prevented a goal. After 20 minutes, Cristian Santamaria made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Real Madrid de Guatemala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rolando Guevara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Santamaria hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carmelo Sifon's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. 40 minutes into the game, Real Madrid de Guatemala's Carmelo Sifon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joaquin Gayoso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Carmelo Sifon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, Uruguay's Sílvio Luiz Goiano threw himself towards the right post 47 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jaime Cazalla, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After the first half Real Madrid de Guatemala were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Francisco Seco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Emiliano Anaya fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 58 minutes into the match, Real Madrid de Guatemala's goal looked a bit too open when Maximiliano Escribano came free, but Sílvio Luiz Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Uruguay were awarded a corner in the 65th minute after Real Madrid de Guatemala's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jaime Cazalla took the corner. The corner ended in Jaime Cazalla almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Real Madrid de Guatemala's Sílvio Luiz Goiano did a great save. A collision led to Real Madrid de Guatemala getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Cristian Santamaria hit a great ball. 81 minutes into the game, Carmelo Sifon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Real Madrid de Guatemala's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Uruguay the free kick. Sílvio Luiz Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruno Beldad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sílvio Luiz Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Beldad, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. After a rather tough play, Real Madrid de Guatemala's Angel Botello got a free kick in the 95th minute. Real Madrid de Guatemala's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
