In the 20th minute, Canada's Rohan Watson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jarl Gunnarsson. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eddie Tinglöf in the 30th minute of play forced Canada's goalkeeper Jax Williamson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
