The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Marcos Basso in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 7 minutes had been played when some careless play by The Shadows's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. Joel Gaona made a great header on Mexico's corner, it was just that The Shadows's Marcos Basso managed to reach the ball for a save. Marcos Basso was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alberto Tafalla showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 9 minute of play.
