The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 8 minutes into the game, Mjällby AIF's Uno Kilman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 30th minute, Tomas Illescas made a precise shot to the right of Saltuk Arabacıoğlu. Mjällby AIF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ermanno Di Palma in the 66th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Saltuk Arabacıoğlu saved Mjällby AIF from getting behind. A collision led to Mjällby AIF getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Ivan Wahlnäs hit a great ball. Saltuk Arabacıoğlu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78th minute, Guillermo Mariano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Saltuk Arabacıoğlu made a huge save. Mjällby AIF were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Venezuela to leave the ground with a draw.
