A nice corner shot did that Felix Montenegro got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Baldomero Tulio quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Peng Sang Yuan fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Churriaca's protests and gave Peng Sang Yuan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 46th match minute, Churriaca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Peng Sang Yuan to maneuver through the defense. The Churriaca players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luisito Lico made a kick off. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baldomero Tulio having to interfere. Felix Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Baldomero Tulio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felix Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. Luisito Lico scored 1-1 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Churriaca getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Grzegorz Ostrowski hit a great ball. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 87th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Churriaca. In the 89th minute, Edelmiro Mikeldi made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Baldomero Tulio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 93rd minute of the match.
