Ball Packert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 15th match minute when Ecuador's Felix Montenegro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mattheo Smeulders got free with Julio Vera in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kieth Hacke in the 18th minute of play. After having played for 26 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ball Packert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 27th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ball Packert was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. In the 33rd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Ball Packert despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Felix Gysemans's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felix Gysemans helped the player get up and apologised. Felix Gysemans hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Ball Packert stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Stephan Vanneste charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stephan Vanneste the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Ulan Bator Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stephan Vanneste didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 46 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ball Packert was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. Ball Packert made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Agustín Saelices sent off a good shot on target. 68 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Jérémy Doku came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ball Packert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 73rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jérémy Doku in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ulan Bator Football Club's Jarno Depelsmaker was substituted for Willy Smidts. Ulan Bator Football Club's Toon Teunens was substituted for Jérémy Doku. A nice corner shot did that Stephan Vanneste got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Stephan Vanneste kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
