When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Claudio Quiroga took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Dante Lacasa to make any attempt to save it. Leonardo Leoz hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. In the 17th minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Apostol Sokolov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute, Joel Gaona made a precise shot to the right of Apostol Sokolov. Monitor Huáscar's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 22 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Claudio Quiroga. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 27th minute of play forced Monitor Huáscar's goalkeeper Apostol Sokolov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonardo Leoz hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Apostol Sokolov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 33rd minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Lautaro Mancebo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Apostol Sokolov. Monitor Huáscar's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lautaro Mancebo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Dante Lacasa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Claudio Quiroga showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 36 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Claudio Quiroga got free with Dante Lacasa in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 42nd minute, Claudio Quiroga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 44 minutes, Gines Hubieta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Monitor Huáscar and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 44th match minute, Monitor Huáscar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gines Hubieta to maneuver through the defense. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudio Quiroga in the 54th minute of the match. Apostol Sokolov made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Felix Luque sent off a good shot on target. Lautaro Mancebo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Monitor Huáscar made a substitution. Bernardinho Bala replaced Artemio Varas. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudio Quiroga in the 62nd minute of the match. Joel Gaona recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Apostol Sokolov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78thth minute of the game Claudio Quiroga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexico's Dante Lacasa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Apostol Sokolov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 80th minute. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes into the match, Monitor Huáscar's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Apostol Sokolov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st minute, Lautaro Mancebo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gines Hubieta hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
