But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that M. Andik Sumadipraja couldn't finish the play. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from M. Andik Sumadipraja in the 10th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers M. Andik Sumadipraja in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by M. Andik Sumadipraja in the 18th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Syamsul Rinaldi scored 2-0 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lautaro Puig in the 37th minute of play forced Durian FC's goalkeeper Can Keep to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abel Carballo hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Through an outstanding action, after 47 minutes, Benito Sanz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell M. Andik Sumadipraja to make the kick off.
