Eliseo Noboa might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Niceto Virila. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eliseo Noboa ran back to his position shaking his head. 14 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Baldomero Lapurdi came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 17 played minutes Nuevo Horizonte got a freekick which was hit by Guido Lucero. Guido Lucero charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Guido Lucero the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Nuevo Horizonte getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Guido Lucero hit a great ball. Honorio Aztore who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 24thth minute tested the skills of Benito Sanz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of Nuevo Horizonte booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baldomero Lapurdi in the 26th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Aaron Alcocer got a free kick in the 27th minute. With an all-out effort, Nuevo Horizonte's Benito Sanz threw himself towards the right post 29 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Baldomero Lapurdi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 33rd minute of the match, Paulino Katia tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Benito Sanz saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Niceto Virila stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Axel Tasis's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. Benigno Chago charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Benigno Chago the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 42nd match minute, Nuevo Horizonte was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benigno Chago to maneuver through the defense. 45 minutes into the game, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Niceto Virila made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Tasis was the one to do the kick off. Paulino Katia took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulino Katia in the 56th minute of the match. In the 57th minute Baldomero Lapurdi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulino Katia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Nuevo Horizonte booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baldomero Lapurdi, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. 65 minutes into the game, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Niceto Virila made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Paulino Katia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulino Katia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 74 minutes into the match, Nuevo Horizonte's goalkeeper Niceto Virila had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Axel Tasis. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulino Katia in the 79th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Nuevo Horizonte defense, Eliseo Noboa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Niceto Virila. The Nuevo Horizonte fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Niceto Virila should have stopped the shot. In the 93rdth minute of the game Paulino Katia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Costa Rica were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Nuevo Horizonte's much stronger midfield.
