In the 47th minute, Edmundo Espiga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edmundo Espiga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes of play FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá's Zé Paulo Hermes was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 58 minutes into the game, FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá's Celedonio Abajas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lautaro Navarro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After 61 played minutes FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo Galeno. When Honduras's Edmundo Espiga in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After 71 played minutes FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá got a freekick which was hit by Gaston Benino. When Edmundo Espiga came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Honduras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo Espiga couldn't finish the play. Celso Hartz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edmundo Espiga went, in the 75th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. A collision led to FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Mauricio Gonzo hit a great ball. If Edmundo Espiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 86th minute, Maximiliano Shepherd got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Celso Hartz came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by Honduras's Edmundo Espiga. But to his dismay, Edmundo Espiga quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Celso Hartz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Moises Tafalla in the 94th minute of play. 95 minutes into the match, Honduras's Sebastian Villa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Celso Hartz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
