AC LeX Luthor's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Peru's Emmanuel Reyes to a score. 0-2 in the 28th minute. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Zeledon Savion tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fulgencio Eyague made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Mina in the 36th minute of play. Fulgencio Eyague was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. 41 minutes into the match, AC LeX Luthor's goal looked a bit too open when Milagros Fraga came free, but Fulgencio Eyague reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Peru were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alvaro Errando was the one to do the kick off. Fulgencio Eyague showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute.
