It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Axel Tasis kicked off to start the match. After 6 played minutes SSC Napoli got a freekick which was hit by Walter Lindholm. Eliseo Noboa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gökçek Mutlutekin took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 14thth minute of the game Axel Tasis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SSC Napoli's Sakarias Bocklund was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Axel Tasis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 18th minute Clark Reuterwall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of SSC Napoli booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Walter Lindholm in the 20th minute. In the 23rd minute, Gökçek Mutlutekin reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Benito Sanz. The goal made the score 2-0. Costa Rica's Axel Tasis got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Manny Gol kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Clark Reuterwall managed to get in a good position for a shot. SSC Napoli's supporters rose to their feet, but Clark Reuterwall was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 34 minutes into the match, Clark Reuterwall had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Clark Reuterwall was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Costa Rica's Axel Tasis pulled a muscle in his back after 38 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Per-Olof Ödman charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Per-Olof Ödman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Costa Rica's Alfredo Zoido was substituted for Axel Tasis. In the 40th match minute, SSC Napoli was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Per-Olof Ödman to maneuver through the defense. In the 41st minute Alfredo Zoido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sakarias Bocklund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute Costa Rica were awarded a corner. Lautaro Puig went to the cornerflag to take it. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clark Reuterwall in the 44th minute of the match. After 47 played minutes SSC Napoli got a freekick which was hit by Esbjörn Friberger. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Manny Gol stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute of the match Walter Lindholm shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Gökçek Mutlutekin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Juan Rubio kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Walter Lindholm recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 68th minute, Lautaro Puig reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Sakarias Bocklund. The goal made the score 4-1. In a very dangerous position, a player in Costa Rica fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 75th minute. Penalty! The referee gave SSC Napoli a penalty, 77 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Walter Lindholm, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. 5-1. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Preben Kaagaard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Manny Gol put it in 6-1 from a short distance just to the right of Benito Sanz. 89 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Manny Gol came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Malte Viklund fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SSC Napoli's protests and gave Malte Viklund a yellow card for diving instead. Costa Rica made a substitution. Kevin Rouco replaced Lautaro Puig. In the 93rd match minute, SSC Napoli was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Malte Viklund to maneuver through the defense. 95 minutes into the game, Kevin Rouco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-2. Sakarias Bocklund was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Costa Rica's Alfredo Zoido got a good chance for a goal in the 98th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. There was no doubt that SSC Napoli were the better team. SSC Napoli's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
