Mitchel Dijkstra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Mina in the 22nd minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Eliseo Mina made a precise shot to the right of Mitchel Dijkstra. Fc Benefica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. 27 minutes into the game, Julian Murillo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Mitchel Dijkstra was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mitchel Dijkstra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 32nd minute of the match. 35 minutes into the match, Fc Benefica's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Mitchel Dijkstra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 40 minutes, Leandro Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fc Benefica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leandro Soares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Peru's Anthony Alvarado got a free kick in the 41st minute. David Wilmink hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Julian Murillo scored 2-3 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mitchel Dijkstra, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leandro Soares to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Peru defense, Leandro Soares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rolando Noboa. The Peru fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rolando Noboa should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Milagros Fraga took a quick shot and it went in 3-4 without a chance for Mitchel Dijkstra to make any attempt to save it. Mitchel Dijkstra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. 69 minutes had been played when some careless play by Fc Benefica's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Peru's corner Luz Tejedor fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Mitchel Dijkstra quite easily take care of the ball. Fc Benefica's Mitchel Dijkstra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Fc Benefica from getting a goal against them. In the 77th minute of the match, Julian Murillo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Mitchel Dijkstra was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Fc Benefica's Mitchel Dijkstra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Fc Benefica from getting a goal against them. 90 minutes into the match, Luz Tejedor dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Mitchel Dijkstra, 3-5. Emmanuel Reyes kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Fc Benefica throughout the match.
