An unexpectedly hard shot by Walmyr Salles in the 25th minute of play forced América-SC F.C.'s goalkeeper Nestor Quirino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The throw-in from Innocenzio Corales in the 27th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by América-SC F.C.'s Jerônimo Pimenta. The supporters of América-SC F.C. booed when AVAÍ F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Innocenzio Corales didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nestor Quirino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Walmyr Salles in the 34th minute of the match. Gabi Gol could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Marcos Buffon made a huge save. In the 45th minute, Gabi Gol hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Doriva Leão fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AVAÍ F.C.'s protests and gave Doriva Leão a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of América-SC F.C. booed when AVAÍ F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doriva Leão didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Walmyr Salles to strike the kick off in the second half. Marcos Buffon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gabi Gol in the 53rd minute of the match. Nestor Quirino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Walmyr Salles in the 54th minute. Marcos Buffon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gabi Gol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 58th minute, Gabi Gol made a precise shot to the right of Marcos Buffon. AVAÍ F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. After 67 played minutes AVAÍ F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Innocenzio Corales. AVAÍ F.C.'s Claus Van De Wiele was substituted for Dario Alegría. América-SC F.C. made a substitution. Alfredo Secco replaced Eliézer Azevedo. After a rather tough play, AVAÍ F.C.'s Innocenzio Corales got a free kick in the 68th minute. Walmyr Salles's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nestor Quirino read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. América-SC F.C.'s Gabi Gol got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcos Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kobe Haaland, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. The attack was good, but when Walmyr Salles in the 79th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. If Elder Domingues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcos Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kobe Haaland, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the AVAÍ F.C. players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for América-SC F.C..
